Uses and Benefits of OLAcad

“At STRABAG Rail Fahrleitungen GmbH, we have been using the OLAcad software from SIGNON since 2020 and have been very satisfied with it so far.

Creating OLA site plans is straightforward thanks to the built-in commands and is further simplified by the parameters entered in the command line. Once the site plan is complete, additional plans—such as cross-sections, pole tables, or elevation plans—can be derived from it quickly and efficiently with just a few clicks. Depending on your preferences, the derived plans can either be used directly or customized as desired.

The support is very reliable. Whenever we encountered problems, we were always assisted quickly and effectively.

In our opinion, one of the most helpful features of OLAcad is the ability to create alignments from simple 3D polylines. For example, in a project where no alignment existed for a track, we were able to manually model an alignment in just a few minutes, rather than having to go through the cumbersome process of creating one using other software. Overall, OLAcad significantly simplifies our planning efforts, so we wouldn’t want to be without the software at this point. Furthermore, as BIM becomes more widespread in railway construction, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with SIGNON and the OLAcad software.

In our opinion, the ability to create alignments from simple 3D polylines is the most helpful feature. Why no demo version?

OLAcad is a powerful special software. Using it without knowledge of, for example, various operating principles quickly leads to irritation. A demo version for the usual 30 days makes it uneconomical to use in a real planning project. Due to the high functional density and versatile application possibilities, it is hardly possible to familiarize oneself with the software without expert support. It makes more sense to use the software in a real project after the training and thus get an insight into the many advantages.
